Bedford Mules fundraiser being held after sports equipment shed burns down.
Temperance, Michigan, October 20, 2016: When a tragedy happens in a small town, the community’s strength is truly tested. After an early morning fire, Bedford High School is not letting this misfortune put them down. Instead, the community is rallying around the school in an effort to help raise money to offset the cost of lost football equipment.
On Monday, October 17th, the local Fire Department was called to Bedford High School as their football equipment shed was engulfed in flames. By the time crews had arrived, the building was a complete loss along with its contents. With the football teams season finale and state playoffs right around the corner, Bedford was not going to let this tragic incident get them down.
With the help of surrounding schools and sports organizations, the Kickin’ Mules will still be competing this season with borrowed equipment. Although thankful for the borrowed equipment, Bedford High School and Bedford Alumni Association is working with a Forest View Lanes in a 5-day fundraiser to raise money to be able to replace what they lost. Forest View Recreation Bar & Grill will be having many different opportunities for the community to take part in this fundraising effort.
Starting on Monday, October 24th until Friday the 28th, kids can come into the facility to go bowling after school until 5pm for only $5 and 100% of these bowling sales will go back to the school. Monday through Thursday, anyone who comes in to bowl from 9pm-2am, at the $7.99 special, will also be contributing 100% of these bowling sales to the school. If bowling isn’t quite for you but you still would like to be a part of the fundraising efforts, just stop in to Forest View’s Bar and Grill from 5p-9pm, Monday through Thursday to get a bite to eat and a beverage and we will make a donation of 25% back to the school (from bar and grill area sales only, excludes food and beverage from league bowlers). Just mention Bedford when you are here to your server.
“I am a 91’ graduate from Bedford and think that what has happened to the school on Monday is horrible. We want to help raise money to help replace some of what was lost during the fire.” Says owner of Forest View, Rich Kenny.
We need the help of others in the community to pull together in an effort to support the Bedford Kickin’ Mules. Let’s show how strong of a community Bedford is, and let this tragedy become more of an opportunity to do some good. In addition to the specials and sales being donated, contributors will also have the choice of making a monetary donation to the school using the Bedford Alumni’s Associations mini port-a-john that will be at Forest View’s counter all week.
