Election of New Officers for the Bedford High School Alumni Association

TEMPERANCE, MI ─ The Bedford High School Alumni Association would like to announce the election of a new Board of Directors with terms that began on August 26, 2015. New Officers include: President Mickey Reed-Rudolph (’92), Vice President Gene Stock (’64), Secretary Dustin Cress (’01), Treasurer Lisa Beins-McCaig (’88), & Trustees Edd Bankowski (’66), & Jennifer Harpel (’88).

The newly elected leaders of the Bedford High School Alumni Association are proud of the multi-generational make-up of the new board and the fact that 4 of the past 6 decades are represented. The new administration points to goals of improving the way they connect with Alumni through new technology, expanding scholarships, alumni-related events, and fundraising to support the efforts of Bedford High School as a few of their goals for the coming months, in addition to revitalizing the Bedford High School Hall of Fame.

The Bedford High School Alumni Association was formed in 1996 to encourage camaraderie between Bedford graduates and others who are interested in the well-being of Bedford High School; to provide assistance for current students; to keep members informed about what is happening at the School and with alumni association members; and to undertake special, school related projects.

The newly elected officers would specifically like to thank Past President Chuck Faller, Past Secretary Pam Krell, Past Treasurers Linda Stock & Laura Collins, and Past Trustee Bill Regnier for their dedication and leadership in keeping the Alumni Association alive through some very challenging years.

Those interested in becoming involved or who may have questions or want more information are invited to attend our next General Alumni Association Meeting to be held in the Bedford High School Media Center on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 @ 7:00pm.

Greetings from the Bedford High School Alumni Association

Greetings from The Bedford High School Alumni Association!

Dear Fellow Bedford High School Graduates,

Here is a brief history of the BHS Alumni Association:

The organization was born in 1996 as a result of the need to build a new football and track venue in Bedford. The voters in the community had made it clear that this venue would not be supported in a bond issue and our old facility was just not capable of hosting the events in this day and age. Our old stadium (as many of you will remember) was located behind our bus garage and not on the high school campus. In the fall of 1995, a group of Bedford Graduates got together and discussed the possibilities of forming an association. The list of things that the group could help with turned out to be far more than just the stadium. It was decided then to go ahead and form the association and that the first special project would be a privately funded new stadium for Bedford High School. The support of the community was overwhelming; people donated money, labor, materials and helped to raise funds for the project. The decision to name it the Bedford Community Stadium was easy, as the community became so deeply involved in the project. The association borrowed one million dollars to start the project and we now have an outstanding facility that is not only used by the school but is open to the entire community. On any given afternoon you will find area residents walking or running the track, sitting in the stands with a good book on a sunny day, or just stopping by to chat with friends. It has really been an outstanding project and we are very proud to have been a part of it. The Association is a federally recognized 501(c)3 charitable organization and your contribution may be tax deductible.
